Matthis was born and raised in Germany as a result of his parents' missionary work with Cru. He is married to Christine and has 5 children, 4 boys and 1 girl. Having walked away from faith during college football at Portland State, he had a dramatic experience with God’s grace that brought him to a place of real devotion to Jesus. After completing his seminary degree he went on to church plant for 4 years and after that landed at BFCC as our lead pastor in 2017. He is excited for the work that God is doing to rebuild BFCC and looks forward to meeting those God leads to join the effort. Outside of work he enjoys just about anything active, such as running, swimming, tennis, table tennis, biking, and skiing

LaDona Hughes Operations
LaDona is married to Hal and has one daughter, Sydney. She was born in Oregon and grew up as a pastor’s child. Having graduated from the University of Oregon (go Ducks!) and then receiving her Master’s in Special Education from Western Oregon, she went on to teach in high school for 33 years before retiring in 2015. She has greatly enjoyed retirement for a number of reasons, not the least of which is the extra quality time she’s found to study God’s word. LaDona loves to travel, both near and far! She also enjoys reading, knitting, and working in her garden.
